An idea that kept finding its way back.
The work behind RoameoRoam began with a question about how technology might help people connect spontaneously, locally, and with more control.
The beginning
LocalDipity
The original idea centered on spontaneous, location-aware communication. An early name was LocalDipity — a combination of “local” and “serendipity.”
It was an attempt to describe the possibility that the place where you are, and the people near you, might open an unexpected conversation.
Early experiments
Learning what the idea needed.
FigWig was an early app experiment centered on anonymous, geolocation-based conversation. That effort did not succeed commercially.
The idea was set aside for years, but it was never fully abandoned. The questions behind it continued to shape what came next.
A broader direction
From one app to a family of useful pieces.
The idea later evolved into CB2K, envisioned as a modern interpretation of local, spontaneous communication. Because that broader idea requires substantial adoption before reaching its full potential, the strategy shifted toward building useful pieces of the vision as standalone products.
NoNumber and WorldTouring emerged from that strategy. TrafficJam Scout is a prototype-stage continuation of the broader location-aware concept.
Where it stands
Still open. Still evolving.
CB2K remains a longer-term direction rather than a current released product. RoameoRoam is the umbrella for the work today: practical products that explore pieces of a larger idea about people, places, and possibilities.
